After Azaan Sami’s successful first solo song ‘Main Tera’ from his debut album ‘Main Tera’, he has come up with his second independent piece of work.

On his Instragram handle, Azaan teased the single when he shared a picture of himself with the lyrics of ‘Tu’ in the caption. He later shared a very brief animated clip captioned “Tu – See you on Eid” tagging the very gorgeous and talented Mahira Khan in it. The clip showed animated versions of Azaan and Mahira floating in the air with a catchy tune playing in the background. The clip started making waves with ‘Tu’ becoming the most awaited song as people were speculating about the amount of involvement Mahira had in the new project.

Azaan soon shared the first glimpse of the song with an action-packed teaser revealing Mahira as the leading lady of the song and people were more than excited to see her and Azaan together.

The brief teaser, which was almost like a film trailer, doesn’t give much away about the music but shows an engaging mosaic of scenes from the video. Brimming with special effects and animation, the clip has a catchy tune playing in the background hinting at the sizzling chemistry between the two. This is the first time the duo has been paired on-screen. The teaser was liked by thousands of Azaan’s followers and celebrity friends.

The song was finally released on the first day of Eid and till now has garnered a huge number of views and likes. People are in love with the kind of performance and singing Azaan has shown. People also admired Mahira’s style in the song as it was different from the serials and films she has done so far. However, the pick of Mahira, famed for being a jack of all trades, in the music video with much-younger Azaan was questioned. But not much importance was given to this particular question considering the beautiful masterpiece they have created together.

Azaan explained why he chose Mahira. Since he wanted the song to be a complete fanboy’s dream, there was no better option than Mahira Khan who is the ultimate woman in the subcontinent who everyone has had crashed on at some point in their lives. Azaan revealed that even Mahira liked the song in the first go.

Taking inspiration from the Michael Jackson classic ‘Billie Jean’ for ‘Tu’, Azaan used to listen to the global dance track enjoyed by everyone. While growing, he started focusing on the lyrics of the song and then realized how painfully sad and solemn the song was.

Dance tracks for films are mostly very upbeat and happy songs, sometimes very frivolous on a certain level with hardly any depth. So, with ‘Tu’, Azaan thought of writing a serious song with a beat to it. Something that would inspire others just as ‘Billie Jean’ inspired him.

The lyrics and music have been beautifully done by Azaan himself while Nigaah Hussain has executed the choreography. Flawlessly directed by Hassan Dawar, the music video has some brilliant visuals with both Mahira and Azaan perfectly complementing each other. The music producer of the song is Meghdeep Bose who is popularly known for songs like ‘Swag Se Swagat’ and ‘Slow Motion’ in the films ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Bharat’.

This year marked Azaan’s debut in the world of singing and songwriting. He announced his debut album ‘Main Tera’ that also marks Hum Records’ first production. Collaborating and featuring 63 musicians and technicians from Pakistan, UK, Macedonia, Turkey and India, the album has nine songs, including Maahiya, Dholna, Main Tera, Jaadugari, Aashiqui, Ik Lamha, Meri Sajna Re. Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Zama and Tu along with some acoustic and live versions of the song. The album features the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra and artists like the Indian sound engineer Eric Pillai who has worked on the overall album. It has been released under the banner of HUM Music.

Azaan has previously worked on music for films such as ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’, ‘Parey Hut Love’ and ‘Superstar’ before releasing his solo album ‘Mein Tera’. His vision has always been to work independently as people get to know the singers better when they listen to their singles. Because while singing in films, the viewers feel the emotions portrayed by the film as per the script but with singles, the singers have the freedom to make the audience understand what they feel.

Azaan has already been a producer, composer, screenwriter and editor and will soon be trying his hand at acting. He has already released two songs from his album ‘Main Tera’ and viewers are eagerly waiting for the rest.
