The politician from Dera Ghazi Khan, Zartaj Gul is Pakistan’s Minister of State for Climate Change and not Health. Her ministry is quite close to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s heart. However, in a TV show, she was seen explaining what the term ‘Covid-19’ means. She said the figure 19 referred to the nineteen different impacts the pandemic has in different parts of the world – and she said it with a lot of confidence, but then, Health is not her subject.
Slap That Wasn’t
Pakistan Foreign Minister may be a man in a hurry but he wasn’t so impatient to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan that he slapped the PM’s Principal Secretary Azam Khan when he told that the PM was in another important meeting and that he would have to wait his turn. The Foreign Minister did not perform any antics like slapping his way in – and the rumours that were spread were just media hogwash.
The English cricketer Stuart Broad, who became the seventh bowler in history to reach 500 Test wickets in the Test series between England and Pakistan, was awarded a silver stump by England’s cricket board. The other ‘500 wicket-takers’ in Test cricket are Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, James Andersen, Glen McGarth and Courtney Walsh.
Improper in Istanbul
Indian actor and director Aamir Khan met Emine Erdoğan, the First Lady of Turkey, in Istanbul when he went there to shoot for a film he is making. Amer’s gesture drew immense criticism in India because Turkey has criticized India’s revocation of Article 370 in Kashmir and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has deeply condemned India’s move. All this is not to the liking of most Indians.
